Answer you all for the trumpet is sounding! The Old Josephians’ Association (OJA) Kuching will be organising its 5th edition of Ora Et Labora Run themed ‘140th Anniversary Run’ on Saturday, 3rd December 2022. As before, the Run will start at the premises of SMK St. Joseph, Kuching, at 6.00am.
The Ora Et Labora Run aims to provide an opportune time for a reunion for ex-students to gather and render service to their alma mater.
According to Dato Sri Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian who is the OJA President, “St Joseph is now 140 years old. As Sarawak eased into a more relaxed rules on the COVID-19 control and prevention measures set by the Ministry of Heath starting May 1, we are blessed to be able to celebrate the school`s 140th year anniversary. The Old Josephians` Association, Kuching is organizing a series of programs such as the yearly Back to School Games where the present student will play games against the old boys. OJA will also organize a career and leadership talk by school alumni as speakers to motivate and inspire younger Josephians to different field of professions such as medicine, engineering, law, accounting and other professional careers.”
Dr Sim, who is also the Deputy Premier of Sarawak further added that the grand finale of the school’s 140th Anniversary will be celebrated with a dinner in the school’s Tan Sri Datuk William Tan auditorium which the school very own alumnus Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak is expected to grace the dinner.
OJA is expecting at least 800 runners comprising current students, alumni and the public to take part in this year’s event. The Run is divided into the 1.4km Walk for families and children, 5km Fun Run and 10km Race. All participants who finish the run will receive finisher medals and for the 10km Race, the top 10 finishers will receive additional cash prizes.
The registration fees per person are RM50 for the 1.4km Walk and 5km Fun Run, and RM60 for the 10km Race. Each registered runner is entitled a running T-shirt and a running bib. Entry forms can be obtained at Revolution Run Borneo – Green Heights, or online registration can be made through www.malaysiarunner.com .
