St Joseph Old Boys Association launches website as part of school`s anniversary celebration

KUCHING: St Joseph Old Boys Association, otherwise known as Old Josephians, launched their official website yesterday as part of the 131st anniversary celebration of the school. Old Josephians president Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian said the website (http://www.sjoba.org.my) will serve as a central portal connecting everything St Joseph.

“There are links to the 48 school clubs as well as links to the primary school, secondary school, private school and St Joseph Foundation. “People don`t have to look all over for information. It is all centralised at this website. “We are also in the process of uploading old class photos. Former students will be able to click on their own faces to add their current contact details. “The website will be a platform for Old Josephians to network and interact with fellow former students,” he told a press conference at the launch, which was held at SMK St Joseph`s resource room. Dr Sim said the website launch is one of the many more events to celebrate the anniversary.

“We will have an event every month, which we came up with after getting feedback from students and teachers. “The monthly events are meant to encourage Old Josephians to come back to the school and help with whichever events that interests them. “It is good opportunity for them to interact not only among themselves but also with current students and teachers. “The events will be listed on the website so everyone should check the listing from time to time to see what we have in store,” he said. The celebration will reach its peak in December with a fund-raising dinner.

“We hope to raise RM131,000 from 131 tables. As St Joseph is a government-aided school, we still need to raise our own funds to support the operations of the school. “Old Josephians from different years and all over are encouraged to join us for this major event,” said Dr Sim. Also present at the website launch were Old Josephians treasurer Ng Yaw Hua, committee member Victor Fong, senior teacher Zalma Abdullah, Chemistry master teacher June Ling and school co-curricular senior assistant Johnny Lim.-The Borneo Post
