Josephians’ Reunion at the Ora Et Labora Run 2018

KUCHING: The Old Josephians’ Association (OJA) Kuching has done it again! The 2nd consecutive Ora Et Labora Run is scheduled on the 8th December 2018 for all Josephians, ex-Josephians and even interested public members. Like last year, the Run will start at SMK St. Joseph, Kuching, at 6.00am.

The main objective of the OJA in organizing the Ora Et Labora Run is to raise funds for student’s extra-curricular activities. Apart from that, the Run serves as a reunion for ex-students and as an opportunity to render service to their alma mater.

According to Datuk Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian who is the OJA President, “We have many talented students in the school. This year, we came to know that the school lacked funds to send our Robotics team which had emerged as State Champions in a Robotics competition to the National Robotics Competition at Kuala Lumpur. As such, the main objective of this year’s Run is to raise a fund for the St Joseph`s Family of School extra-curricular activities in 2019.”

Dr. Sim, who is also the Minister of Local Government and Housing that apart from organizing the Run, the OJA hopes to make Ora Et Labora Run an annual event where alumni can visit the school every year. This year, he encouraged the alumni from different batches to make their own banner of “Class of Graduation Year” for display in Run group photo.

He further added that a Run will be organised again next year together with a charity sale so as to inculcate the Lasallian values to help the last, lost and least. After completing the Run, runners can still gather in the school compound for a fellowship refreshment.

OJA is expecting at least 2,000 runners comprising current students, alumni and the public to participate in the Run. The event is divided into the 5km Fun Run and 10km Competitive Run. There are two categories: Open Category (Men and Women) for the public and the Josephians’ Category for existing students, and graduates.

All participants who finish the run will receive finisher medals by Medal Depot and for the 10km competitive run, top 5 finishers will receive additional cash prizes.

The registration fees per person are RM45 for the 5km Fun Run, and RM55 for the 10km Competitive Run, which entitles a runner for a 2XU running shirt and a running bib. Entry forms can be obtained at Revolution Run Borneo – Green Heights, or online registration can be made through www.malaysiarunner.com .

The Old Josephians’ Association would like to extend their gratitude to their partners, Kuching Happy Runner Club and Revolution Run Borneo for supporting this event and the sponsors of refreshments- Moma Water and Ayamas.
